The DirectorsLawrence Churchill
Previously he was Chief Executive of Zurich Financial Services, UK and International Life. Prior to this appointment he was Executive Chairman of UNUM Ltd, the European arm of UNUM Provident Inc, the world’s largest disability insurer. In 1991 Lawrence was the founding Chief Executive of NatWest Life and Chairman of NatWest Unit Trusts. In 1995 he also assumed responsibility for NatWest’s Retail Investments and became Chairman of NatWest Stockbrokers. In 1996 and 1997 he led NatWest Life to the final of the European Quality Award. In parallel he has served in a non-executive capacity on the boards of the Personal Investment Authority, the Association of British Insurers, the Employers’ Forum on Disability, the Financial Ombudsman Service and been a Trustee of the Royal Society of Arts. In the charitable and community arena he has been Chairman of Race for Opportunity in the Southwest, Vice-chairman of Cares, the employee volunteering initiative, and is currently Vice-president of Employment Opportunities. |
Lawrence is the Chairman of the Pension Protection Fund and the Senior Independent Director at The Children’s Mutual and Good Energy Group; he is also a member of the Board for Actuarial Standards and a trustee of the International Longevity Centre – UK.
